Alexa Kari is an artist, producer and educator based in London, UK

Through textile art, zine-making, and community art facilitation, she engages with craft as a method of social network formation, survival, and beauty and invites audiences to explore the intersections of craft with queerness, politics, and community.

In 2023, she founded Material Grrrlz, a worldwide community of crafters dedicated to celebrating the creative work of young women and queer people. Through a quarterly print & digital magazine and in-person workshops, Material Grrrlz aims to equip and empower Gen-Z to engage with fiber art and craft to build community, engage politically, and promote sustainability. Material Grrrlz magazine now has over 15,000 subscribers in over 100 countries and has hosted sold-out events for over 700 attendees in London and Paris.
